How it works
Four things happen when you claim a name.
None of them need you. Hover a step to follow the thread — the whole path from a typed slug to a certified, served page.
The slug is checked and held
Availability is checked against every existing store and against a reserved list — www, api, admin, help, status and the rest — so a name that would collide with the platform can never be claimed.
The hostname is registered
One wildcard DNS record already points every address at the storefront host, but a host only serves and certifies names it has been told about. Yours is registered automatically the moment the store is created.
The template renders your data
Your chosen layout is a renderer, not a copy. It reads your products, categories, content and brand at request time, which is why switching template later changes nothing behind the window.
The page is served from the server
A shopper on a weak connection gets HTML, not a loading spinner waiting on JavaScript — and a crawler gets the same page a person does.
