The quota is checked before the upload lands
Space is verified before the file reaches storage, so you are told you are out of room instead of discovering it after a two-minute upload. If you are at your limit your store keeps selling — only new uploads are refused.
The file is one row, the uses are references
Every stored file is a single asset. Products, categories, your logo and your page content point at its address rather than holding their own copy, which is why the tenth use costs nothing.
Deleting is allowed, but never silent
Before an asset is removed, every use of it is located — across products, categories, your logo and your page content — and named in the confirmation. You can still delete it; you just cannot do it by accident.
Identity documents are counted, not shown
Verification documents are stored privately. They count toward your storage because they are genuinely stored, and they are excluded from every listing, so a KYC file can never appear in a picker beside your product photos.
