Root & Grain
Furniture that started as a tree
Solid timber, natural finishes and joinery meant to be repaired rather than replaced.
FSC-certified timber
Traced to the mill, named on the card.
Plastic-free packing
Paper, card and jute. Nothing else.
Ten-year repairs
We fix it rather than resell to you.
A tree per order
Replanted in Ondo, every time.
Favourites
The pieces our customers come back for.
What goes in
Four materials, all of which we can trace to source.
Nigerian iroko
Dense, honey-coloured and naturally weather-resistant. Cut from certified plantation stock.
Hardwax oil
A plant-based finish that soaks in rather than sitting on top. Food-safe once cured.
Wool & linen
Undyed where we can manage it, low-impact dyed where we cannot.
Brass hardware
Solid, not plated — so it can be unscrewed, cleaned and used again.
The workshop
Two joiners, one bench, no shortcuts
Every frame is cut and joined by hand on Awolowo Road. No CNC, no flat-pack dowels, no staples — mortise and tenon, the way it has worked for four hundred years.

Built to come back to us
A joint that loosens is not a failure, it is maintenance. Bring the piece back within ten years and we re-glue, re-pin or replace at cost. It is cheaper for you and it keeps one more thing out of a landfill.

Loved this month
From our community
It arrived wrapped in paper and jute, no plastic anywhere. That alone told me the rest would be right.
Amara Nwosu
Lagos
Two years in, one joint loosened. They re-pinned it for the cost of the glue and posted it back.
Bode Adeniyi
Ibadan
You can smell the oil finish rather than chemicals. Small thing, but it matters with a baby in the house.
Ifunanya Okeke
Abuja
They named the mill the wood came from. I did not expect that and now I expect it everywhere.
